Meet Margot, our F1b labradoodle who joined our family at the end of October 2022.

I have not come from a family of dog owners. In fact quite the opposite really being a military kid and living a slightly nomadic life as a child moving from place to place in the UK and in Germany. My husband grew up with cats. So it is with some trepidation (and a big bunch of excitement) that we have brought this bundle of energy into our home.
Everything is new here: from the ‘How I came to learn to deal with dogs’ and my new writing project of creating a website and ‘dog blog’.
Come with me on my journey through my weekly Friday blog as my family and I navigate the wonderful world of dog ownership – from life as a puppy and onwards. It’s sure to be a rollercoaster.
Please feel free to comment each week, share and spread the word…

I am so happy for you all that you have brought Margot in all yours and our lives.. it’s been so much fun chatting with you about it all. Thank you for quizzing us about it, and I hope the advice works, it’s been a lovely topic of conversation.. damn we’re older and wiser now sis.. the new challenges, the happy and fun times a dog brings into your lives is amazing, and the unconditional love they have for us humans.. can’t wait to meet her, and for Dexter to meet her too.. xxx

Thanks, Geoff – you actually get a mention as my ‘dog guru’ in the first blog post. I hope you enjoy reading it when I publish it on Friday! And the advice has been superb… xx

So excited to hear about your adventures with Margot! She looks absolutely gorgeous but I bet she’s a bit of a pickle, too – that’s a puppy’s job, of course, to drive you crazy and then melt your heart with those big puppy eyes! Welcome to the wonderful world of dog ownership…it’ll be one of the best decisions you ever made! xx

Thank you, Mandy. Cue super cute photos of those big puppy eyes full of naughtiness. You can read all about it in two days! x

Thank you, Chris. I would have said that I wasn’t a pet person either before now, but I have been well and truly swayed. I hope you enjoy reading it. It’s been fun putting it together!

Thank you, Jenny (!) Margot is definitely more labrador. I can’t see any evidence of poodle yet. Lots of walks in the countryside will suit us all perfectly. She is gambolling around the garden four times a day at the moment…

We were comparing notes on dogs over coffee in the Cathedral this morning. Everyone thought Margot looked lovely – adorable. We look forward to sharing a walk with you and Margot when she is a bit older. My friends were also intrigued to see the video of Geoff and Nicol’s recent ‘additions’! Eight!!??

Thank you, Phil (!) Margot is indeed adorable, especially when she has her quiet and cuddly moments. (More on the chewing in next week’s blog.) I hope you enjoy reading Friday’s publication.

Lovely to see the pics and read about Margot and your new family adventures!
She is gorgeous – and your blog captures her first days settling in with you all as a family beautifully.
I’m still on the fence about getting a dog so it will be great reading your experiences.
Enjoy these early days as no doubt she will grow super fast! X

Thank you, Suzie – it’s been fun putting it all together during the quiet moments… I’m not going to lie, it is definitely hard work but she is very sweet. You will see how she grows from week to week! x
